My Review:
What an amazing book and a perfect ending to Vel and Eric's story...
It's one of the most unpredictable and fascinating book series I have ever read!
You never know what is going to happen, how the characters are going to react...

CAPTIVATING
That's the one word that can fully describe the series..Utterly Captivating..

>>Velaney shows her real self in this book..She is a fierce woman, who believes in God, and she will do the right thing..Even if it regards a sick and poor excuse of a person...Personally,I would have let him die..The more painful the better...Oh boy..I do sound like a bloodthirsty vindictive woman, don't I?..Well,Velaney is truelly an angel..I don't even know how she found the strength and the courage to do what she did..And then..When she does do the right thing, she gets punished for it..I was so angry when that happened..Because that can happen in real life,as well..You are the good person AND get screwed over..It happens one too many times,I'm afraid..
Velaney is one hell of a woman..A fierce angelic warrior..

>>Eric's emotions are on a rollcoaster in this book..I can't say that I blame him..If I were him,I wouldn't understand Velaney's decision either..But he comes around..What I didn't expect is his purre devotion to Velaney..Yes I know that he is crazy in love with her and would do everything for her..But he didn't even blink, when Vel explained how the umm...tragedy happened...He was just standing there full on supportive mode..He was there for her, when she didn't want anyone, when she wasn't there for herself..I have never seen anything like it..It makes me dream that there are men out there..Men like Eric, who will stand up for the woman they love..
Eric is the very definition of a real man..

I won't comment on Vel's biological family..They are really a disgrace to humanity..When I read about characters such as these,I can't help but wonder "Are there really beings like that out there?Parents who won't protect their own child?Parents who will allow sexual abuse under their roof?"..And then I think "Yes there are..."..My heart really breaks for all the victims out there, who are betrayed by their friends and family..I'll just leave it at that..

The Spark Series is more than a lovestory of 2 damaged people..I can't say that they change throughout the books..They simply move on..Together...

Spark and Burn are 2 very emotional and deep books, that speak the truth..They are fictional, but Velaney is certainly some woman in the world, who has lived the same pain..Eris is a man,who has lost friends and a baby, who has loved a woman more than anything..Carissa,a commitment-phobe fearless girl, who has survived an awful childhood..The characters are real..Their story could be real..And that's the bless and curse of the series..It gives you the truth;yet the truth can be ugly..But the truth can also be blindly beautiful..

Captivating.One of a Kind.You're missing something,if you don't read it.

And Now It's The Time for My Q&A with the Amazing Brooke Cumberland!!!!We talked about her new novels, her inspirations,Burn of course and her life..

Hello Brooke!Welcome to my place!
Hi Mia!!

Q:  So far, you’ve written mostly series, the Spark and the Riverside Trilogy. When you came up with the stories, did you plan them being a series or did it just come out this way?
Actually, Spark was meant to be a stand-alone. It wasn’t until I got ¾ through that it became a 2 book series. The Riverside Trilogy was written as a 3 book series, but I did not have it all lined out as to where it was going to go. I let my characters direct me, so even the plot twists and OMG moments are a surprise to me!

Q:  After finishing Velaney and Eric’s story, you are going to release Flame that is Carissa’s story. Personally, I wished for that to happen since I started reading Spark #1. Would you like to tell us anything about Flame?
FLAME will be MUCH different. Carissa is edgy, she doesn’t do relationships, she’s blunt, and a little bit of a sex freak. Expect to be surprised, expect to watch her grow and develop as she starts to feel things she’s not used to, expect to laugh and maybe even cry. I’m super excited to share her story!

Q:  I admit I’m a huge fan of your work, since I loved your writing in the Spark Series. So, I wanted to read more of your work..My eye caught Wonderstruck: A Novel..Would you like to share any info about it? I assume it’s a stand-alone.
When I started writing it, it was meant to be a stand-alone, but I am looking to make it a 2 book series. I got to a point with it where I just was unsure about where I wanted it to go. I needed to take a break, but I do plan to continue it early next year. Wonderstruck will be a NA novel about two young people who are in drama together—however, one wants to be there, and one was forced. My MC has a history that prevents her for letting people in, yet the person she ends up being in a play with helps her open up. She’s sarcastic, spunky, and doesn’t believe in love. The two have to play two people in love when in real life the MC is annoyed by him. It’s going to be interesting how it turns out.

Q:  OK no more book-stalking you..The Spark Series is very emotional and the characters have many layers that we keep discovering. But it is also very meaningful. You talk about abuse, the repercussions of being abused and how it affects your life. You also talk about loss and how a person may deal with it. I would love to know what your inspiration is. What did you see and made you think of Vel’s story?
Honestly, this book developed as I started writing it. I had a vision, but like many of my other works, the characters tend to take you another way. I graduated with a degree in psychology and I’ve studied a lot about abuse, loss, struggles, grief, etc. It’s an area that I’m used to talking about, although it’s hard. It’s something I wanted to bring to the surface because everyone deals with struggles and loss their own way. Although people tend to look strong on the outside, it can take just one struggle to bring them completely down. I wanted to portray that it was okay to act, grief, handle situations the way you need to. You should never feel guilty for how you feel or how you react to something that has hurt you. Spark was emotional for me as well, and I had only hoped to bring that out in my writing and into the reader’s mind.

Q:  I tend to relate to the characters I’m reading about. I enjoy finding out what I would do, if I were that person, and what that person could have done differently..Yes I overanalyze almost everything… What are your similarities and what are your differences with Velaney?
Velaney and I have similarities in that we have some insecurity. When I first met my husband, it took months for me to accept that I had feelings for him. Although it was obvious to many people around us, we didn’t act on those feelings until much longer. Velaney and I are both strong—we try to be there for others and we try to put on a brave face. Some differences would be that Velaney is very athletic and running is her outlet. I do not have the athletic gene at all!! Writing and reading are my outlets.

Q:  I read on your profile that you’ve studied psychology in college, as well as counseling and education in graduate school. Do you miss working on that field?
I worked in Autism therapy for a while. I didn’t get to work much in my field because I went to grad school right after college, but because of my husband’s medical issues, I was unable to work a full time job. I miss studying psychology because I loved college and the experience it gave me, but I am very grateful and blessed to be able to write now. I think it was always where I was meant to end up.

Q:  I hate to repeat myself, but I can’t help wondering if your area of studies has helped you in some way in your writing. Has it?
Oh absolutely. I had to write papers all through college and grad school. I had to do reflection papers and book report/summaries for literature. I love writing! I definitely think studying psychology and going to college has helped me evolve and really get into the minds of fictional characters. I think learning about human behavior and the thought process has helped develop me as a writer.

Q:  But, enough with the deep questions..What do you do when you’re not writing one of your fantastic books?
Honestly, I don’t do much. I’m a stay at home mom & wife. I cook, clean, check homework, drive the kids around, run errands, shop. I enjoy reading when I have a free moment.

Q:  Tell me 3 things you can’t stop shopping for.
Clothes for my 3 year old (so cute!), purses, and books.

Q:  Tell me your 3 favorite artists. Perhaps, Radiohead is one them..xoxo.. (If you don’t listen to music, you can switch the question to 3 favorite authors.)
My three go-to artists for when I’m writing is Taylor Swift, Boyce Avenue, & Miley Cyrus.

The Spark series was so deep and emotional that I didn’t want not to cover all that intensity. But I tried to lighten it up a bit in the end.
I’m so glad that I got to be a part of your Tour. I can’t wait to read of your books.
Thank you Mia!

I don't know about you,but I loved this Q&A...Brooke is really amazing!..Hope you enjoyed it!
